Septic System Design

We are certified designers of septic systems. Whether you are building new or upgrading your existing system, we will help you in obtaining a Rural Plumbing/ Sewage Disposal Permit from your Regional Health Authority.  Most RMs require a design before issuing a building permit.

Enviro Septic

EnvirosepticThe Advanced Enviro-Septic System is an NSF-Certified, passive wastewater (septic) treatment system. The system combines a proprietary piping system with venting and a bed of system sand to provide higher-than-average treatment of your wastewater before it is returned to the environment; protecting your family and preserving water sources on and around your property. The Advanced Enviro-Septic has no moving parts, creating a very low maintenance, long-lasting system.

Type II Mounds
Type two mound

A Type Two Mound is an above-grade septic system that is used for properties that have site constraints such as limited space (small lot size) or issues of permeability in their soils. Type Two Mounds are pressurized, and the laterals (pipes) are set over a bed of sand to increase the pre-treatment of the wastewater before it reaches the native soil.

Open Discharges (Jet)
An Open Discharge or Jet System is a wastewater disposal system. The wastewater is pumped from your septic tank to the surface on your property without any treatment. Due to the disposal at surface, the discharge area must be away from any high traffic areas on the property. These systems are only allowed on large parcels. Open discharges do not provide any wastewater (septic) treatment and offer no protection to the environment.
Pumps and Controls
Not every septic pump is the same.  The pump needs to be sized for your system.

If only I had known!

Rubber mound

When we built our acreage 5years ago, I didn’t know anything about acreage life, including wells, water treatment systems, and especially septic systems! We decided to go with a mound that used shredded rubber tire, because that was what was recommended to us. The concept sounded good to us at that time.

I figured picking up the bits of tire from around the mound (either by hand or with my lawnmower!) was just an inconvenience that was part of having a mound. We started to have problems with our mound in summer of 2014 (4 1/2 years after it was put in). A colleague of mine put me in contact with Larry to try and solve the problem. What an eye-opener! I really wish that I had known about the different mound types before we made this major decision in our build. Larry’s knowledge and explanation of the pros and cons of the different systems was very educational. Although the sand and gravel mound may be more expensive at the start, I can see where it would be a much better system, with lower maintenance costs and a lower failure rate. And when I’m dealing with septic, I don’t want problems!

Thank you Larry, and everyone in your company. Dealing with you and your professional, knowledgeable staff has been a pleasure.

Sincerely,

Vanscoy Client
